Characters
Every field you fill on a character is context the model reads before it writes.
The fields#
Two of them decide most of it: Injection, which says whether this character is in front of the model every turn, and Sheet, which is the long one.
- NameREQUIRED
- What the story calls them. Mentions are matched against this and the aliases.
- Role
- A short phrase shown beside the name in the cast list — the innkeeper, her brother. One line, for you as much as for the model.
- InjectionDEFAULT: SUPPORTING
- Two settings, and the one that matters. Supporting sends the summary only, and holds the rest back until the story names them. Focal sends the full sheet every turn. Focal costs context on every single turn, so it is for the two or three people the story is actually about. Supporting is the default.
- AgeOPTIONAL
- A number, or nothing — left empty it is simply not mentioned.
- Summary
- Two or three sentences. This is the whole of what a supporting character contributes before they appear, so write it as the thing worth knowing rather than as a biography in miniature.
- Sheet
- The long form: history, motives, relationships, whatever the prose needs in order to stay consistent. Only sent for a focal character, or once a supporting one has been named.
- Speech style
- How they talk, described rather than demonstrated — clipped, never finishes a sentence she has lost interest in. This is the field that most reliably changes the prose.
- Narrator instructions
- Directions to the narrator about this character rather than facts about them: how they should be framed, what to withhold, what the reader is not to be told yet.
Filing#
Collapsed in the editor, and none of it is sent as prose. It is how a character is matched, drawn and credited.
- Aliases
- Comma-separated. Every other name the story might use for them, so a mention is filed against the right person instead of creating a second one.
- Appearance tags
- Comma-separated, for illustration rather than prose. Feeds the image prompt when illustration is on.
- Locked seed
- Reusing one seed keeps the character looking like themselves across generated images. Empty means a new seed each time.
- Character LoRA
- A LoRA name passed to your image backend. Only meaningful on a ComfyUI running on your own machine.
- Tags
- Comma-separated, yours to organise with. The application does not read them.
- Attribution
- Creator, source and license — filled in for you when a character arrives by import, so a card you got from somebody else keeps its credit.
Provisional#
You do not have to write the cast in advance. When the story names somebody new, the bookkeeping model files them as a character and marks them provisional, carrying the message they first appeared in.
A provisional character behaves like any other. The cast list offers to Keep them, which clears the mark, and that is the whole of the difference — the mark is there so you can tell what you wrote from what the story did.
Personas#
A persona is who you are. It belongs to you rather than to a scenario, so the same persona can be carried into any story, and a scenario can name one as its default.

- Comma-separated, matched the same way a character’s are.
- Pronouns
- Free text rather than a fixed list. Written into the prose as given.
- Appearance
- How you are described when the story describes you.
- Traits
- Disposition and habits — what the narrator can assume about how you would react.
- Notes
- Anything else. Sent with the rest, so it is prose the model reads, not a scratchpad.
